Now that we know what our chakra type is, it's time to work toward
strengthening our dominant chakra so that we can make the most of our
positive attributes. We need to correct the blockages in all of our
chakras so our elemental energy can flow freely throughout our body.
With chakra work you can expect an overall improvement in your health with
an enhanced immune system. Your muscles and bone structure will be
strengthened. Your moods will improve and depression will be alleviated.
Your negativity will disburse and you will have a clear idea of who you
are and what you want to accomplish in your life. If you have been in a
spiritual fog, it will be lifted.
Each chakra should be worked on for 7 days at a time beginning with the
root chakra and working toward your crown chakra. This is a seven week
program that should be continuously cycled for the best effect.
The methods for working with your chakra:
 | Aromatherapy |
 | Herbal remedies |
 | Gemstone therapy |
 | Meditation |
 | Yoga |
|
The areas involved during chakra work:
- 7th Crown - Top of head
- 6th Forehead - Between the eyes
- 5th Throat - Below the larynx
- 5th Heart - Between the breasts
- 3rd Navel - Slightly above the belly button
- 2nd Sacral - Between the belly button and the pubis
- 1st Root - On the buttocks at the tail bone
|
In this section we'll talk about the first three methods. Meditation and
yoga will be discussed in the next section,
.
Aromatherapy
Have you ever had a certain scent remind of something very pleasant (or
unpleasant)? This is because smell is more directly connected to our
emotions than any of our other senses. The olfactory nerve is directly
connected to the part of our brain that effects our moods. We can use the
soothing, or energizing effects of essential oils to open and heal our
chakra centers. The effects of essential oils work through our sense of
smell as well as being directly absorbed into the skin. Essential oil can
be diluted with a pure carrier oil such as jojoba, grape seed oil, avocado
oil, etc. Usually 2-3 drops of essential oil in 2 to 4 ounces of carrier
oil is enough to provide a healing experience. Some essential oils are
stronger than others and must be diluted more, so use with caution. You
don't want to burn your skin. Some oils, like rose and lavender can be
used by most people without dilution but test yourself by applying a drop
to the inside of your arm and wait at least an hour before any further use
of the undiluted oil. You can use the diluted (or undiluted) oils in a
variety of methods but always be cautious of an oil you are not familiar
with.
 | Massaged into the skin at the chakra center, being very
cautious around the forehead chakra (a drop or two here of the diluted
oil is sufficient). |
 | Three or four drops in a warm bath as you are getting in
the tub. |
 | A few drops in an aroma diffuser while doing your chakra
work or any time you feel the need. |
Use of the following oils is indicated during chakra work. Select the
one that vibrates with your senses:
 | Root: Cloves, cypress, rosemary |
 | Sacral: Myrrh, sandalwood, vanilla |
 | Naval: Anise, chamomile, lavender |
 | Heart: Jasmine, rose |
 | Throat: Eucalyptus, peppermint (both should be diluted, 2
drops to 8oz carrier oil) |
 | Forehead: Lemon grass, violet |
 | Crown: Clary sage, frankincense, rosewood |
Herbal Remedies
Healing with plants has been around as long as there have been people.
Long before there were doctors, either on their own or at the advice of
the local healer, witch doctor or shaman, people found plants that made
them better. Although the medical profession still is in doubt of the
usefulness of many plants and herbs, they have relented to some degree and
today there is scientific proof that some plants (example:phytoestrogens)
do have a therapeutic effect. Individuals who use herbal therapies know
just how effective they are. Herbs can be effective taken in teas,
tinctures or encapsulated. If you buy herbal tinctures or capsules, use
according to directions. When using them in tea, usually 1 teaspoon
steeped in a cup of hot water and consumed two to three times daily is
recommended. Use the herbs as indicated for working with the chakra
centers.
 | Root: Lime blossom, Valerian (Valerian is very relaxing
and may be best taken at night) |
 | Sacral: Nettle(steep tea for 8-10 mins), parsley (parsley
tea should be made from the fresh herb) |
 | Naval: Anise, chamomile |
 | Heart: Melissa, thyme |
 | Throat: Peppermint tea, sage tea (heated in milk and
sweetened with a little honey) |
 | Forehead: Eyebright, St John's wort |
 | Crown: Rose hip, white tea |
Gemstone Therapy
All gemstones and crystals have a particular energy that resonates with
each of the chakra centers. They have been successfully used to unblock
and assist in healing the chakras. Use your gemstones during your chakra
work as they related to the different centers. Choose the stones that
appeal to you and if one doesn't work try another recommended stone or
crystal. While working on each chakra you can use one or more of the
following methods:
 | Wear your stone on a chain or silk cord around your neck |
 | Carry the stone in your pocket and hold it in your closed
hand several times a day |
 | Use the stone for direct chakra healing contact. |
When wearing your stone around your neck it should be under your
clothing and in direct contact with your skin.
When carrying your stone in your pocket, try to carry it in an empty
pocket so it will not pick up any other vibrations.
For direct chakra therapy, use the following instructions:
Lay quietly on your bed or on a folded blanket or yoga mat on the
floor. Light a candle or incense if this helps you to relax. Place the
appropriate stone/crystal on your chakra center and concentrate on the
effects you want. Draw in the energy of the stone or crystal. Remain in
this position as long as you want or have time to do so. You should feel
refreshed and relaxed when you have completed the session.
For direct chakra work, the following gemstones and crystals are
recommended:
 | Root: Garnet, hematite, ruby, |
 | Sacral: Carnelian, goldstone |
 | Naval: Citrine, tiger's eye |
 | Heart: Jade, rose quartz |
 | Throat: Aquamarine, turquoise |
 | Forehead: Blue agate, lapis lazuli |
 | Crown: Amethyst, clear quartz |
